Capture the essence of Canada's francophone culture in Quebec City and Montreal, then experience another great city - Toronto. With plenty of time to explore, this vacation includes some sightseeing excursions and time to stroll cobbled streets and French cafes. Zip easily between cities and cultures onboard 'VIA 1' first class service, and a guided motorcoach journey to Quebec City.
Note: This vacation is an extension of The Flavour of Quebec from Montreal, and includes one additional evening in Toronto prior to your departure for Montreal. The vacation concludes with a transfer from your hotel to the Quebec City airport and a flight through Montreal to Toronto.
Day 1 Toronto
Upon arrival at Toronto’s Lester B. Pearson International Airport transfer independently by scheduled airporter service, limousine or taxi to your downtown hotel (transfer not included). Overnight in Toronto Day 2 Toronto to Montréal Transfer (not included) to Union Station to board VIA Rail, departing mid-morning, for Montréal. On arrival at Montréal’s Central Station, proceed (transfer not included) to your selected hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Included today is a Montréal Museum Pass. Overnight Montréal. Day 3 Montréal Discovery of Montréal, the world’s second-largest French-speaking city, begins with a city excursion this morning. Highlights of this three-hour excursion include Old Montréal, Notre-Dame Basilica, one the masterpieces of religious architecture in North America, Olympic Park with the world’s tallest inclined tower, Mount Royal Lookout from which the city all comes into view, McGill University, Montréal Harbour, St. Joseph’s Oratory, City Hall, Place Des Arts, a world class center for the performing arts; and the residential and financial districts. The remainder of the day is yours to explore cafés and boutiques or the “Promenade de la Cathedrale” including shops and restaurants. Overnight Montréal Day 4 Montréal Today, transfer (not included) to Montréal’s Jacques-Cartier Pier and experience Montréal as never before, aboard Le Bateau Mouche (included). Discover Montréal and the St. Lawrence River as they are rarely seen from the Paris-style riverboat. Le Bateau Mouche will take you safely upstream against the Sainte-Marie current. Live a bit of history as this glass-roofed boat goes through centuries old locks and visits the Park de Eduses (locks park). See the sights from the boat as it travels under Montréal’s bridges and around the islands of Expo ’67. Relax in comfort while the knowledgeable onboard guides talk about Montréal, its history, varied geography and its sparkling cultural life. Upon completion of your cruise, transfer (not included) to the hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure. Overnight Montréal. Day 5 Montréal to Québec City Depart Montréal this morning by motorcoach and travel to the capital city of the province of Québec, Québec City. Founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain, Québec City is Canada’s oldest city and the cradle of French Civilization in North America. It is the seat of Government and the National Assembly. UNESCO has recognized this importance of Québec’s historical and cultural richness by naming the city a world heritage site. Upon arrival in Québec City, proceed on a sightseeing excursion with highlights including the Plains of Abraham; site of the historic battle between French and British forces, Palace Royal, the National Assembly and Upper and Lower Québec. Overnight Québec City. Day 6 Québec City to Montréal Your day is at leisure until your transfer (not included) to the Québec Via Train Station. Your holiday ends with a first class travel on Via 1 service back to Montreal where your tour concludes at Montreal’s Via Train Station. Overnight Québec City Day 7 Québec City Your day is at leisure until your transfer (not included) to the Québec City Airport. Your holiday ends with a flight from Québec City to Toronto via a connection in Montréal (airfare included).
